In order to use a sole-proprietorship in Ontario you must first register it. Your Sole proprietor registration is valid for a period of 5 years upon which time you will need to renew.

A sole proprietorship does not protect your name as others can register the same name. Only incorporating can protect your company name in the province of Ontario.

A NUANS® is not required, however if you register the name and it is already incorporated you could be asked to change your name. A name search before registration is advisable. We will perform a name search at no additional cost prior to registration.
Each business name requires a separate Master Business License. You can have more than one but will require one application per name.
Your registration will be completed within a few hours if purchased during business hours.
We will send your Master Business License in PDF format by email. This will be your only copy so retain for your records. If you misplace the MBL document the Ontario Ministry will not be able to replace it.
