Frequently Asked Questions
- What if I’m not opening a physical office and just do business with those provinces?
- Are there rules about my company name if I am registering in Quebec?
- For a Quebec registration do I need a French name?
- What is the timeline for this to be completed?
You only need to register in Quebec or Ontario if your company is opening a physical office in that province.
If you are incorporated and your name is English only then when you register in Quebec you will need to have a French version of your name.
Your legal name is your legal name, however you will be asked for a French version of your name. You will indicate this as a “Trade name used in Quebec”
Registration in Ontario can take 2-4 weeks as they are not submitted electronically. Registration in Quebec is completed electronically but will still take anywhere from 7-14 business days.
This is strictly a guideline as times can change depending on volumes at the government offices.
