Good to know

  • Filing federally does not update the province, and updating the province does not update the federal record. Both are required, which is exactly what this order covers.
  • Photo ID is required for the Quebec side. We send a secure link after you order.
  • Federal corporations must notify Corporations Canada within 15 days of a change of registered office or directors.
  • Quebec publishing can take up to 5 business days, but often completes within hours.

Notice of change FAQ

Why are there two filings?

Your corporation exists federally but carries on business in Quebec, so it appears on two registers. Each keeps its own record of your head office, directors and officers, and each has to be told separately when something changes. Filing one does not update the other.

What changes require a notice of change?

A change to your registered or head office address, or to your directors and officers, appointments, resignations, or a change of address. On the Quebec side, changes to business activities, number of employees and trade names are also reportable.

How fast is it?

We file both as soon as your details and ID are in. The federal filing is processed by Corporations Canada; Quebec publishing can take up to 5 business days but often completes within hours. We confirm each as it lands.

What if I only need to change the federal record?

If your Quebec record is already accurate, you may only need the federal filing, call us and we will confirm which applies before you order, rather than charging you for both.

IncorpDirect is a private document-filing service, not a government agency, and not affiliated with Corporations Canada or the Registraire des entreprises. Government fees, where they apply, are separate and shown before payment. You may also file directly with the government.
