What the report shows

  • Current status of the corporation
  • Registered head office address
  • Annual filing status information
  • Directors’ names and addresses
  • Corporate history on the corporate name
  • History of documents filed with Corporations Canada

When people order one

  • Confirming a supplier, customer or counterparty is a real, active corporation before signing
  • Due diligence before buying a business or lending to one
  • Checking your own record after a filing, or before a bank or investor asks
  • Finding out whether annual returns have been kept up, which is often the first sign of a dormant corporation

Federal profile report FAQ

Is this the same as a Certificate of Compliance?

No. A profile report is a snapshot of what the register holds: status, address, directors and filing history. A Certificate of Compliance is a formal certificate stating that the corporation exists and has met its filing requirements, which is what a bank or a foreign authority usually asks for.

Can I order a report on a corporation I do not own?

Yes. The federal register is public. You need the corporation’s name or number, and no relationship to it is required.

What if the corporation is provincial?

Federal reports cover corporations incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act. For a provincial corporation, order the Ontario or Quebec report instead. If you are not sure which applies, call us with the name and we will tell you.

IncorpDirect is a private document-filing service, not a government agency, and not affiliated with Corporations Canada. Government fees, where they apply, are separate and shown before payment. You may also file directly with the government.
